Characteristics
Es Cubells is located on the edge of an impressive cliff overlooking Formentera it is hard to reach and remains a peaceful pueblo through out the year. It is home mostly to country houses and farm land and luxury villas with a sea view.
It is also full of history, known for having it’s own patron saint. Born in 1811 Saint Francesc Palau or Pare Palau, a Carmelite, is remembered for building a church in this pueblo in the 19th Century. This, of course, came to be destroyed in the Spanish Civil war only to be rebuild later, by the Bishop of Ibiza, as a church which began it’s service in1957. There is also a covenant of Teresian nuns standing quietly in the countryside that is sealed off to the public.
